Here you will find an overview of the answers to frequently asked questions about VeloCity Berlin.

This section will be updated regularly until the race weekend. So it's worthwhile to keep checking back.

Event Update

Arrival

On the boulevard Straße des 17. Juni between the Victory Column and the Brandenburg Gate.

 Not a good idea, because unfortunately there are no parking spaces available at this event and you will only add unnecessary stress. We ask you to use public transport.

 

Good idea, public transport stops near the start and finish areas:

  • Underground: Friedrichstrasse (U6), Potsdamer Platz (U2)
  • S-Bahn: Hauptbahnhof (S5, S7, S75, S9), Potsdamer Platz (S1, S2, S25), Friedrichstrasse (S1, S2, S25, S5, S7, S75, S9)
  • Regional train: Hauptbahnhof (RE1, RE2, RE7, RB14), Potsdamer Platz (RE4, RE5) (each approx. 10-15 minutes walk)

Please also remember to buy a ticket for your bike if you are traveling by public transport.

Registration

Withdrawal:
Due to the logistical and organisational complexity of the event, we cannot refund the participation fee if you are unable to attend. Thank you for your understanding.

Transfer:
Unfortunately, transfers to another person or another year are not possible. Your starting place is tied to the event and person.


Detailed information on withdrawal and exchange can be found in our conditions of participation.

ERGO insurance will be offered as part of the online registration if you want to insure your participation in case of withdrawal.

  • The classification is based on the average speed indicated during registration.
     
  • The starting blocks will be allocated at a later date based on the number of registrations received by the registration deadline. We will inform you of your allocation to the starting block shortly before the event along with your start card.

Your little ones will also get their money's worth on Saturday. You can find more information here.

 

Yes, there will be an EXPO from July 1-3, 2022.

Where:
Strasse des 17. Juni between Ebertstrasse and Yitzhak-Rabin-Strasse

When:
Friday 2 – 8 pm, Saturday 10 am – 7 pm, Sunday 8 am – 4 pm

 

Bicycles are not permitted on the EXPO site during EXPO opening hours.

 

You will receive your race kit exclusively in person upon presentation of your start card and photo ID.

Where?
At the VeloCity Berlin EXPO, Strasse des 17. Juni / Ebertstrasse (southern Lindenrondell), close to Platz des 18. März / Brandenburg Gate.

When?
On Friday July 1 from 2 to 8 pm & Saturday July 2 from 10 am to 7 pm

 

No. Start numbers will only be issued personally without exception. 

 

Registration can only be done online via your user account.

Attention!!! User accounts created before May 1, 2020 are no longer valid due to a system change. Please create a new user account.

Late registrations are possible online until June 30, 2022.

If the participation limit has not been reached, registration will also be possible on site during race kit pick-up.

On the day of the event

Yes, clothing drop-off is available in limited quantities.

You can only drop-off your stuff in the transparent clothing bag that you received at the race kit pick-up.

 

Yes, on the day of the event our partner Zweirad Stadler will be on site with a bicycle service.

When:
Sunday, 7 to 9:30 am

Where
At the event site, right behind the access for participants

What:
Last minor assistance, such as pumping air, adjusting saddle, etc.

 

Lining up in a starting group further ahead is not permitted.

It is only possible if it is a slower starting block.

 

Yes. Toilets will be available for you at the start and finish areas and at the refreshment station.

 

During the race

Yes. We offer the following refreshments:

  • Start - small pre-start supply (mainly water,fruit)
  • Route - one refreshment station - fill up cups or bottles, ISO drink from Dextro, fruit (bananas, oranges). You can stop for a moment, shake out your legs and catch your breath.
  • Finish - Water, ISO drink from Dextro, gel or bar from Dextro, fruit, tea, Erdinger Alkoholfrei.

All participants are obliged to dispose of their own waste and empty drinking bottles exclusively at the refreshment points on the course or after the finish.

 

  • Please help your fellow riders in case of a fall and warn other participants. As in normal road traffic, please call 112.
     
  • Make sure you get out of the danger zone as quickly as possible and do not pose a danger on the track yourself. If possible, move to the side of the track in case of a fall or similar accident.

 

The wearing of a crash helmet is mandatory.

The crash helmet must be made of solid material and must bear a test seal from an internationally recognised test centre such as TÜV or SNELL.

Airbag helmets are not permitted.

Sound carriers of any kind or ear coverings that can negatively influence acoustic perception and thus the ability to react in road traffic or in competition (e.g. MP3 players, headphones, earplugs) are not allowed.

 

Dangerous points are announced by us in good time with signs and secured accordingly. Pay attention to these signs and do not blindly follow the crowd. If you are not used to riding in larger groups, try to find a small group. Adjust your speed according to your ability and the situation and think about your fellow riders around you. Safety always comes first.
Pay special attention to the following places:

  • Departure from Willi (Karlsberg, Grunewaldturm) - steep descent with a right turn
  • Entrance Kronprinzessinnenweg - sharp left turn
  • Katzbackstraße - downhill right-left curve combination

After the race

Yes. At the finish line you will be provided with fruit and drinks.

 

No. Showers are unfortunately not available this year.

 

The transponders are disposable and do not have to be returned.

Lost property can be handed in at the "Info point" on the event grounds.

You will be informed of the specific link in good time.

 

You will receive your certificate online as a download at the list of results on the VeloCity Berlin website.

The exact link will be announced in due time.

  • The fastest five finishers of a team are recorded in the team classification. The total sum of the net times of these five team members will determine the ranking in the team classification. In the event of a tie, the best placed finisher of each team will decide the ranking.
     
  • Otherwise, the individual placings of the team members are not decisive for the ranking of the team classification.
     
  • A team consisting of less than 5 finishers will not be included in the team classification, but will be included in the individual classifications instead.
